Most people see a Saturday afternoon as a chance to relax. I see it as a chance to stress-test a pellet grill.

I'm Chris. I work in IT in the Tri-Cities area of Mid Michigan. The job trains you to care about what actually works, keep it simple, and avoid repeating past mistakes. I cook the same way.

A few years ago I realized I was applying that same optimization mindset to my backyard. Not to win competitions, just to put better food on the table for my family. I'm obsessed with the how and the why of outdoor cooking.

This site is about simple, good food. Nothing extra, nothing you don't need. You don't have to reach for 15 spices. Grab one or two blends that work and let the fire do the rest.

I leave the overthinking at work. Out here I'm just feeding my kids, enjoying the process, and trying not to mess up the brisket. I hope you'll pull up a chair and enjoy it with me.
